Responsibility
Responsibility
Transparency
Vapour’s approach to transparency is comprehensive, ensuring social and environmental compliance in terms of its sourcing and production methods. The brand also discloses details of its supply chain via a thorough ingredient glossary. Vapour’s manufacturing facilities have maintained USDA certification as an Organic Processor Handler since 2009. Reassuringly, every product is traceable through each production stage, all the way back to raw materials.
Emissions
The company is in the process of creating environmental efficiencies along its supply chain in a number of ways, including using 100% renewable energy and passive solar daylighting in its manufacturing facilities, warehouse, research facilities and headquarters, promoting reuse and recycling practices via its partnership with Terracycle and providing clear disposal instructions to avoid unnecessary waste, using compostable and recycled materials, including FSC Certified outer box packaging, and offsetting all carbon emissions from shipping through its partnership with Cloverly.
Water Management
95% of Vapour’s products are anhydrous – containing waterless formulations activated by untamed botanicals – and are made in a facility that is proactively reducing its water footprint. The brand’s approach to water management is informed by the personal experiences of team members at Vapour, who live and work in the high desert and understand first hand the impacts of water stress on aquifers. Vapour also makes regular donations to the organisation Amigos Bravos, which works to protect fresh water sources in New Mexico.
Materials
Vapour sets high standards for its sourcing practices, prioritising ingredient performance and purity. All ingredients are responsibly sourced, organically farmed, naturally derived, minimally processed and have been chosen because they have the lowest environmental impact possible.
Workers’ Rights
Vapour manufactures all its products in responsibly operated facilities. The brand’s high standards for selecting and assessing its manufacturing partners comply with international labour, health and safety standards equivalent to the Fair Labor Association Code of Conduct. The brand also conducts assessments of all first-tier facilities (including factories, workshops) on a regular basis and promotes initiatives to drive diversity and equal opportunities for workers.
Waste and Chemicals
All of Vapour’s products are safely manufactured without the use of harmful ingredients and techniques. The brand uses an anhydrous (without water) filling system, reducing landfill waste caused by manufacturing. Vapour works in partnership with Terracycle to promote reuse and recycling practices amongst consumers, reducing the amount of landfill waste generated from packaging.
Animal Welfare
Vapour products are not tested on animals, nor are any of the raw ingredients. The brand works with Leaping Bunny, which requires a full supply chain audit, from raw materials to product development, to prevent the testing or commission of tests on animals throughout the entire supply chain. Responsibly sourced organic beeswax and carmine are used in some Vapour products, which means the range is not fully vegan.
Biodiversity and Forestry
We are still exploring how we can work with Vapour to advance our shared goal of protecting endangered species and forests.
Ethos
Vapour’s multi-purpose, high-performance products are designed to last longer, helping the brand to promote responsible consumption. And it’s well publicised reuse, recycle initiatives offer more responsible alternatives to packaging waste.
