Responsibility
Responsibility
What is Transparency?
Clear and open sharing of everything it takes to source, make and deliver a product, enabling informed decision making.
The challenge
It’s impossible to make informed decisions about our purchases if we don’t know the full story about an item, from ingredients to manufacturing, transportation and everything in between.
Over the past 20 years, despite increased reporting, carbon emissions have continued to rise and environmental damage has accelerated. Normalizing Transparency as an industry standard will move the focus from creating reports to addressing the challenges uncovered through that reporting.

The goal
The ambition is to move from simply documenting information to using that data to make reasoned, beneficial decisions across global fashion and beauty supply chains.

Toward’s Approach
At Toward, we request detailed sourcing information from all our brand partners in order to assess and track their progress in Transparency, from traceability throughout the supply chain to how that information is shared with the public. We set clear targets to support our stocked brands and ensure that we are encouraging greater Transparency throughout the industry.
Toward Brand Partners Commit To:
01
Incorporating regularprogress reports into their overall reporting strategy by December 31st 2022
02
90% traceability on stages 1-4 of the supply chain by 2023, rising to 100% by 2025
03
Stop working with Tier 1 or 2 suppliers that use coal-generated heat or energy by 2025, in line with UNFCCC targets
