Transparency

Transparency at Senteurs d’Orient is both a sourcing and manufacturing priority. Senteurs ingredients are traceable through each production stage and products are, largely, handcrafted by local artists in Lebanon. Additionally, the brand works proactively to guarantee fair and safe working conditions for workers along its supply chain, as well preventing any potential human rights abuses by maintaining close relationships and constant communication with suppliers. The team at Senteurs is focused on supporting vulnerable groups along its supply chain, particularly women. Therefore Senteurs is proactive at promoting a holistic approach to gender equality in the workplace, which includes ensuring fair wages for everyone and fostering opportunities for social and economic development of workers. In terms of disclosure of the material composition of products, Senteurs d’Orient provides a list of ingredients in use across all product pages.

Emissions

Senteurs’ initiatives to minimize its carbon footprint are focused on creating environmental efficiencies in its manufacturing processes, which emit less CO2 emissions than regular soap manufacturing methods, as products are artisanally-made fusing old traditional methods along with modern machineries, such as hand-mixing ingredients, cutting soap mix into individual cubes that are then stacked, leaving soap to air dry and age. Additionally, 80% of Senteurs packaging is made of biodegradable materials.

Senteurs’ non-toxic, clean formulas prevent pollution of our waterways.

Materials

All ingredients used by Senteurs are responsibly sourced, clean and wholesome. Ingredients are always chosen on the basis of the lowest environmental impact possible. Senteurs never use parabens, colorants, silicones, titanium dioxide, EDTA and tallow.

Workers’ Rights

Senteurs is committed to making sure that workers in its supply chain are treated with dignity and respect, and that they are compensated fairly. To that end, the brand operates in alignment with International Labour Organisation (ILO) standards for health and safety - and demands that all of its production partners operate accordingly.

Waste and Chemicals

Senteurs’ products are safely produced without the use of harmful ingredients and techniques. In addition, the brand is currently working on promoting waste reduction by using packaging that is 100% biodegradable or made of recycled materials.

Animal Welfare

Senteurs d’Orient does not perform animal testing for its finished products, nor are any of its raw ingredients tested on animals. In addition, all of Senteurs’ products are vegan - the brand doesn't use any animal-derived ingredients in its formulations.

We are still exploring how we can work with Senteurs d’Orient to advance our shared goal of protecting endangered species and forests.

Symbols to spot

Cruelty Free

Neither the finished product nor its ingredients are tested on animals, and adhere to standards for basic animal welfare set by the World Society for the Protection of Animals (WSPA). All Toward Beauty products are cruelty free.

Locally Produced

Product is manufactured within 200 miles of headquarters or distribution center, lowering supplier emissions, creating local jobs and ensuring working conditions and wages are fair.

Low Waste

Little or no waste created in the production process and post-purchase waste reduction advice given.

Minority Owned

At least 51% owned and operated by one or more people from underrepresented groups including ethnic/gender minorities and those with disabilities.

100% Natural Ingredients

Formula contains 100% natural ingredients, using the definition and classification determined by NATRUE.

Plastic-Free
