Transparency
Rotate’s focus on maintaining trust and transparency-based relationships with suppliers as well as an emphasis on constructive collaboration allows the brand to deliver on its commitment to maintain a responsible and ethical production across all product lines. They ensure this is the case by periodically conducting the following social compliance audits (carried out by third-party agencies): SMETA (Sedex Members Ethical Trade Audit), Amfori BSCI (Business Social Compliance Initiative).
Emissions
Rotate’s focus is on driving environmental efficiencies by selecting low-impact materials that align with their materials criteria (durability, environmental impact and quality).
Water Management
Rotate’s code of conduct (for suppliers) abides by the 10 principles outlined by the UN Global Compact. Alignment with the minimum requirements for environmental compliance with principles 7, 8 and 9 ensures that water is efficiently managed by suppliers, including keeping water waste to a minimum and keeping natural water sources from pollution.
Materials
Rotate’s criteria for choosing materials includes durability, quality and environmental impact. Materials in use include natural fibers, organic materials, responsibly sourced leather and recycled synthetics.
Workers’ Rights
Rotate’s code of conduct (for suppliers) by the 10 principles outlined by the UN Global Compact. Alignment with the minimum requirements for environmental compliance with principles 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 5 ensures that the rights of workers along their entire supply chain are being protected. Although the brand does not own the entire value chain (meaning they don’t have their own factories) - they work with reputable suppliers, who have social responsibility ingrained into their systems.
Waste and Chemicals
Rotate follows the european standard REACH and also has their own list of restricted substances (RSL), which goes beyond the standards of REACH. Strong focus on minimizing the use of harmful chemicals in the production of garments, as per the The Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH) regulatory framework.
Animal Welfare
Rotate’s code of conduct (for suppliers) covers the protection of animal rights, the ethical treatment and transportation of animals along their supply chain.
Biodiversity and Forestry
Rotate is focused on creating solutions that go beyond offsetting their negative impacts. This extends to their vision to protect endangered species and forests. Leadership at Remain considers that in order for significant, proactive measures to be taken in the industry, brands must take ownership of the problem (of endangered species and ecosystems).
Ethos
As an occasion wear brand, Rotate relies on wholesale business which means they don't interact directly with shoppers. They understand communications hold great power when it comes to influencing responsible consumption amongst shoppers and for that reason, the team at Rotate is looking into rental as an opportunity to engage with shoppers.
