Transparency
Olio E Osso produces all of its products in Portland, Oregon, US. Products are made by hand in small batches and materials are sourced from producers that adhere to responsibly harvested practices. Transparency is a priority for the team at Olio E Osso, which is evidenced by their proactive work at auditing suppliers on a regular basis, thus ensuring traceability along the supply chain. In addition, all of Olio E Osso’s suppliers are able to demonstrate, by means of certifications, that no human rights violations are or have ever taken place in their facilities. The brand takes a proactive approach at communicating to shoppers the origins of ingredients, and backs up product claims with evidence from reliable sources.
Emissions
Olio e Osso approaches managing the carbon emissions from packaging by means of a refill program (currently in development) and a recycling program. Olio e Osso is proactive at ensuring all of their business partners work in alignment with the goal of reducing emissions from manufacturing.
Water Management
The leadership team at Olio e Osso is looking into new ways of creating water efficiency along their supply chain. These efforts will be made known to the public in due time, in correspondence with Olio e Osso’s transparency values.
Materials
Olio e Osso works with responsibly sourced and minimally processed ingredients. Balms contain an all-natural base of nourishing olive and shea oils, bound together with ethically sourced beeswax and grapefruit essential oil.
Workers’ Rights
Products are made in the US which ensures suppliers adhere to US legislation on the protection of workers rights.
Waste and Chemicals
Olio E Osso’s products are FDA compliant, contain zero stabilizers and preservatives. The base for all of the balms is 100% natural, with the exception of No. 2 balm, which is made with less than 0.05% of a synthetic colorant. In terms of waste, all of Olio e Osso’s body products come in refillable containers, to help advance the brand’s goal of reducing waste beyond the point of purchase.
Animal Welfare
Olio e Osso operates with the utmost respect for life in all its forms. No animal testing is conducted for Olio e Osso’s products, beeswax is always responsibly sourced as is carmine - a natural alternative to synthetic colorants, which can be derived from non-renewable fossil fuels.
Biodiversity and Forestry
We are still exploring how we can work with Olio e Osso to advance our shared goal of protecting endangered species and forests.
Ethos
Olio e Osso promotes responsible consumption in that products are designed to serve multiple purposes. In addition, all containers are designed for re-use and refill. Over-consumption is never encouraged but rather mindful consumption of an all-natural product that lasts longer (over a year per unit). In addition, social responsibility is heavily integrated into the brand’s communications as they seek to use the brand as a platform for change. Olio e Osso is proactively involved with local organizations in Oregon and supports multiple causes including the LGBT community and initiatives that support women-owned business.
