Why Are We Concerned About Biodiversity & Forestry?
Ecosystem degradation is wide ranging, affecting oceans, freshwater, soil and forests. Protecting biodiversity and forestry – the bees, seas and trees – within and beyond supply chains is a crucial high-level goal of responsibility.
The Challenge
Fashion supply chains are directly linked to soil degradation, conversion of natural ecosystems and waterway pollution. The beauty industry, too, has a role to play in reducing reliance on pesticides and aggressive crop production.
The Goal
As a multi-brand platform, Toward is a facilitator. We aim to foster cross-brand collaboration and education, establishing biodiversity and forestry standards for suppliers that enable brands to push for more robust specifications, while suppliers benefit from economies of scale.

Responsible Forestry
Committed to the active protection of ancient forest ecosystems.
Responsible Materials
Made from materials that cause no chemically-induced harm to ecosystems and people along the supply chain, in line with standards set by the Oeko-Tex Association, the bluesign program and ZDHC.
Saving Water
Protecting water sources and preventing water pollution along the supply chain.
Vegan
Contains no animal-derived fabrics such as animal leather, wool, silk and fur. Contains no animal products or byproducts.
Environmentally Friendly Dye
All dyes are non-toxic and free from harmful chemicals. The dying process itself is water-efficient and treats waste effluents.
100% Natural Ingredients
Formula contains 100% natural ingredients, using the definition and classification determined by NATRUE.
Plastic-Free
Contains zero plastic-fibered materials, such as polyester, nylon, acrylic, and elastane. Contains no microbeads or microplastic additives, in line with the Look for the Zero initiative.
Cruelty Free
Neither the finished product nor its ingredients are tested on animals, and adhere to standards for basic animal welfare set by the World Society for the Protection of Animals (WSPA). All Toward Beauty products are cruelty free.

Ingredients harvested from responsibly-managed sources that preserve the integrity of the animals and support local communities.
Reef Safe
Free from the eight compound chemicals, as well as preservatives and additives, that are harmful to coral reefs.
